Gaithersburg Police Investigate Two Olde Towne Stabbings

Two men were stabbed in Olde Towne Gaithersburg early Sunday, police said.

The Gaithersburg Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred early Sunday in the Olde Towne Gaithersburg area.

Police said a citizen flagged down an officer patrolling in the 200 block of East Diamond Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. and stated that he was stabbed by a group of unknown males.

As police investigated the incident, a call was dispatched for a second victim who was stabbed in the area of Brookes Avenue and Park Avenue, police said. Both victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

Police said preliminary investigation indicates the victims are known to each other and were at a local restaurant in Olde Towne prior to the incident.

Both victims were approached by three men they did not know, police said, who then began a verbal conversation with the victims. At some point, one of the suspects brandished a knife and stabbed both victims, police said.

Police are actively investigating the crime and are in the process of attempting to confirm more information.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this assault to contact the Gaithersburg Police Investigative Section at 301-258-6400. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call the Gaithersburg Crime Tip Line at 301-330-4471.
