HOC Employee Arrested For Stealing Government Funds
A Housing Opportunities Commission employee stole from senior residents of the Forest Oak Towers Apartment in Gaithersburg.
A Silver Spring woman was charged with stealing money from elderly residents of a Gaithersburg apartment complex that was meant to help pay for meals through a county nutrition program.
Kunthea Lun, 29, stole approximately $388 from from residents of the Forest Oak Towers Apartment, Montgomery County police said. Lun, employed by the Housing Opportunities Commission, was responsible for collecting cash contributions from the Forest Oak Towers residents and depositing the funds into a government account.
Police said HOC supervisors noticed Lun, of the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue, had not deposited any funds from residents into the account between April 1 and May 21.
The contributions serve to help offset costs of the program, which provides nutrition site management at facilities as part of Montgomery County's Department of Health and Human Services senior nutrition program.
Police said Lun admitted that she had taken the money.
