On The Agenda: Watkins Mill Interchange Briefing
The Gaithersburg mayor and City Council will meet for a work session at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall's council chambers.
The State Highway Administration will brief the Gaithersburg mayor and City Council on plans for the Watkins Mill Interchange Project during a worksession Monday evening at City Hall.
The project, which was approved for design in 2002, will link the existing Watkins Mill Road segments over I-270 and, according to city documents, is expected to result in the creation of new jobs, facilitate development in the city, provide a new East-West connection in the city and provide congestion relief at the Route 124-Route 355 and the Route 124-I-270 intersection and ramps.
Also on tonight's agenda is discussion of the city's plans to register for Sustainable Maryland Certified, a new initiative of the Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland (EFC) to support Maryland’s municipalities in finding cost-effective and strategic ways to protect natural assets and revitalize their communities.
A resolution was approved by the mayor and council on July 18, 2011 enabling the City to proceed with registration for the SMC program.
The full agenda can be viewed on the city of Gaithersburg website. The mayor and council worksession begins at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall's council chambers.
