One Dead, Two Seriously Hurt Sunday in Three-Car Collision
Detectives ask for help from witnesses of Sunday crash.
A three-car collision near the Montgomery County Airpark Sunday morning left one passenger dead and the drivers of two of the cars with serious injuries.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit have so far determined that a silver 2000 Mazda 626 was headed northbound on Airpark Road a half mile north of Muncaster Mill Road just before 10:30 a.m Sunday when it veered into the southbound lanes and struck two cars.
The front passenger of the Mazda, a 53-year-old male, died on the scene. The driver of the Mazda, a 48-year-old male, and the 53-year-old male driver of a gray 2012 Acura TL were taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The driver of a white 2010 Lexus RX350, a 59-year-old female, was not injured. The occupants’ identities will be disclosed on Monday, according to police.
Investigators asked that anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773- 6620. Callers may remain anonymous.

I wondered what had happened. I was headed back to my folks house (I'm visiting them for a couple of weeks) and wanted to take the Airpark Road shortcut to 124 but it was blocked. Condolences to the family of the man who died. Thanks for the informative report!
