Patch Picks: Gaithersburg Nightlife

Where to have a good time after work.

 

Who says there is no nightlife in Gaithersburg? With businesses like Wine Harvest, Dogfish Head Alehouse, Rooks Corner Bar and Growlers of Gaithersburg, there is surely something, somewhere, for everyone to enjoy. Here are five Gaithersburg nightlife spots.

 

Buffalo Wings & Beer (or better known as BWB)

BWB is casual bar located near the Airpark in Gaithersburg. It is a gathering place for sport oriented. They have televisions everywhere (some are 100”), as well as $1 pool tables, dart boards and arcades. Every type of person is welcomed at BWB’s and it is a great place to watch your favorite sporting event, play pool and of course, eat wings. BWB has 171 different combinations of buffalo wing sauce for their specialty wings. BWB is open late and hosts drink specials for sporting events such as the Super Bowl.

Dogfish Head Alehouse

Dogfish Head Alehouse is a microbrewery located on West Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg. Their slogan is “original food, original beer, original music and original spirits”. There is always something going on at Dogfish, including: live music on Saturday nights, patio parties, fundraisers & beer dinners.

On Tuesday, August 30, Dogfish will donate 15percent of the days proceeds to support Curesearch – fight against children’s cancer. And on August 31, join them at their Release Party for their new seasonal brew – “Punkin Ale”.

The Gaithersburg Dogfish has a casual atmosphere and provides pub food, entertainment and of course beer. Most items on the menu are wood-grilled, like their great pizza, burgers and sandwiches. If you've never been, stop into Dogfish for lunch, dinner, or just the beer. When you visit, first check their beer chalkboard, it'll tell you what they have on tap. You can certainly quench your thirst for Dogfish here.

Gentleman Jim’s

Gentleman Jim's, located on Earhart Court, has a brand new outside deck, the Upper Deck Sports bar and a family dining restaurant downstairs….so it is pretty much a venue for anyone to visit. This is the bar where the staff encourages you to party your butt off. Prices and drink selection are decent. Jim’s is known for their pizza, which is available anywhere in the establishment. The Hance family has owned and operated this restaurant and sports bar for more than 35 years. Besides grabbing a seat at the bar to catch the game on TV, other events include: breast cancer fundraisers, local school and sport fundraisers, ladies night, Fat Tuesday’s and drink specials. Try it, you’ll love it.

Growlers of Gaithersburg

Growlers of Gaithersburg is located in Old Towne Gaithersburg. The restaurant has a family friendly environment downstairs, while the second level offers two full bars. There is also an outdoor, covered deck for the late-night bar scene. Events include: bottle of wine Sunday, live music, W.T.F.W. – Wednesdays with live entertainment and drink specials, half price burger Tuesdays, stand-up comedy nights and more.

Wine Harvest

Wine Harvest, located in the Kentlands, is a great place to enjoy wine. During the summer, you can sit outside on the patio, enjoy the evening stars, drink some wine and munch on the cheese spreads available. One evening, try the Cupcake Shiraz with their Baked Brie, french baguette, apricot spread, and apples…you won’t be disappointed.
