Update: Missing Gaithersburg Woman Located
Tarina Marie Craig was found safe and unharmed.
Update: Tarina Marie Craig, 30 years old, of the 9700 block of Fields Road in Gaithersburg, has been located safe and unharmed.
Craig had been missing since Wednesday.
Original Post, Thursday at 4 p.m.: Police are asking for the public's help in looking for a Gaithersburg woman who has been missing since yesterday.
"Tarina Marie Craig, 30 years old, of the 9700 block of Fields Road in Gaithersburg, was last seen yesterday at approximately 5:30 p.m. as she left her residence," according to police.
She was on her way to shop at Target in the Washingtonian Center, her family told police.
Craig is described as a white female, about 5'6 tall, weighing about 160 lbs. She has reddish/blond hair and has brown eyes.
Foul play is not suspected, police said.

Again, happy young woman found safe. But there continues to be too many cases of individuals just going off and not telling family members. Total inconsideration & even stupidity in this day and age. There has to be some law that levies consequences on those who pull this trick that sets everyone off in 'search and extreme worry' mode and also becomes costly to the County (e.g. police time & effort). All cases HAVE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. But, once safely resolved, charges and even fines should be levied.

I agree with Sharon. In instances where a ‘family member’ files a police report that an ‘adult’ is missing and subsequently found to be safe, I suggest both parties be fined a minimum of $500 for their actions, when it is shown the incident was due to an inconsiderate act on the part of either party.

Thank you, Charles, for understanding what I was trying to convey. I certainly take ALL missing persons seriously as you do! I in no way was suggesting criminalization of 'legitimate' missing persons or suggesting we 'ignore' these alerts when they appear in the news. But, for those who abuse Amber Alerts (who take off @ whim knowing there will be concerned family & friends), consequences should be forthcoming. Maybe then e.g. 13 & 14 year old won't get on a bus & travel distances from home (cases we have read on PATCH)...something I don't understand anyway when parents should be placing restrictions/BOUNDARIES on these 'just' kids!

There ARE indeed many tragic, very tragic cases, JN! No one is disputing that sad fact. And these are certainly not the types of 'missing persons' cases Charles and I are referring to, for sure!
