Since the slaying of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed teen in Florida several weeks ago by the captain of a neighborhood watch, the nation has been pondering how it could have happened.
George Zimmerman, the man who pulled the trigger, has never been arrested, despite outrage from community members, athletes, celebrities and politicians. Even President Obama has weighed in.
Zimmerman is free in part because of Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground law, which give greater legal leeway to people--like Zimmerman--who claim they acted in self-defense.
What do you think? Should Zimmerman be in custody while the incident is investigated?
Take our poll and let us know.

The Sanford police brought Zimmerman in without a scratch!? If medics cleaned his wounds, did they also launder his shirt? C'mon!

What's wrong with a law where you cannot be arrested because you stated you
were defending yourself? If there are no eyewitnesses, anyone can get away
with murder now. Think about it. Its outrageous.

70% No, 25% Yes.
Sounds like the same percentage that wanted George Bush arrested for war crimes.

I am suprised at the # of "no" responses. So glad that this information is NOT scientific.

Actually, Trayvon Martin is 6'3", George Zimmerman is 5'10". So he's not a "child." As far as weight, it doesn't really matter in a fight if you have the initial advantage. All accounts, including Zimmerman's and 2 witnesses, have stated that Martin was on top of Zimmerman. The shot that was fired was consistent with being very close together, probably while they were on the ground.
I'm actually surprised that people answer "yes," actually, given they don't follow the facts that have been presented. Well, unless the "facts" are muddied up on purpose by NBC.

Dear Miss Myers,
If someone approaches me with a gun, I am going to struggle with him
rather than stand there and get shot. What don't you understand about
George Zimmerman being armed and Trayvon NOT.

Why do blacks cry when then die by the hand of a non-black??? They die daily from their own ethnic group, but Al, Jesse, NAACP, Obama, and Holder never raise a claim of injustice. Neither do the the people here at the PATCH who want Zimmerman arrested. My question is why, why, why???
