President Barack Obama will make what some expect will be a campaign stump speech at 9 p.m. on Tuesday as he delivers his final State of the Union address before he stands for re-election in November.
Among those expected in attendance will be Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) and Gov. Martin O’Malley (D).
Previews of the speech show that Obama will deliver a message with populist appeal that includes “sweeping initiatives to bolster the U.S. manufacturing sector and the labor and housing markets, and seek broad reform of the tax code,” Fox Business reported.
The speech also will call for “additional domestic renewable energy sources as a way to wean the U.S. from its dependency on foreign oil,” Fox reported.
Reuters reported that Obama will call for reforming the U.S. tax code. Debbie Bosanek, the secretary for billionaire investor Warren Buffett, is expected to sit with First Lady Michelle Obama during the speech, Reuters reported. Buffett has famously held up Bosanek as an example of the need for tax reform, saying that she pays a higher tax rate than he does.
Obama is expected to contrast the tax rate for middle-class Americans to the rate paid by the rich, including Republican candidate Mitt Romney, who released his tax records on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

I voted economy/jobs, but I'd also like to see the President finally announce his support for marriage equality in the United States, and for the federal recognition of all legal marriages performed in any state. Right now, even though some states grant licenses to all couples., the federal government does not recognize same-sex legal marriages performed in those states, which causes all sorts of problems for the couples, the states, for businesses, and for financial/banking/mortgage/insurance companies. Time to reacquaint ourselves with the full faith and credit clause....

I would like to hear the president say he respects the life of the preborn and he will stop promoting the killing of the preborn. Also, support the freedom of religion as written in our constitution and stop trying to take away our freedom of religion and conscience by imposing requirements for contraception, sterilization and abortion in health care plans. Our freedoms can't stand another term for Obama..

Hey John,
Can you point me to a source where the President promotes "the killing of the preborn?" My perception is that the President has great respect for life but does aknowledge that the governmnet should not curtail the freedom of women to make free choices about their pregnancies. We do want more freedom and a smaller government, right?
