Quince Orchard's Klotz Named Head Football Coach At Richard Montgomery
Former QO offensive coordinator will lead the Rockets, MocoVox.com reported.
Richard Montgomery High School has a new football coach.
In an interview with Gaithersburg Patch in November, Quince Orchard head coach Dave Mencarini credited Klotz with reviving the Cougars’ offense last season. Klotz worked with quarterback Matt Choi after starting quarterback Mikey Murtaugh was lost for the season to injury.
“Josh did a great job of putting a plan in place to slowly but surely bring [Matt] along and add little things to the offense each week that will strengthen us in terms of the pass and run game,” Mencarini told Patch for a preview of the 4A state championship game. The Cougars lost the title game, 12-7, to Henry A. Wise High School of Upper Marlboro.
Klotz takes over for Neal Owens, who resigned as RM’s head coach shortly after guiding the Rockets to a 6-4 record last season. Owens was 11-19 in three seasons at RM after inheriting a team that had gone 3-27 in the three years before he arrived, The Gazette reported.
Owens resigned in November from what he called his “dream job,” saying he could tell the school wanted to go in a different direction, The Gazette reported.
