UPDATE: Shooting Victim Collapses in Front of CVS

No suspects, scene of shooting not yet known.

UPDATE: 5 p.m., Sept. 27 - The victim in Wednesday night's shooting in Montgomery Village remains in critical condition, leaving investigators unclear about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Montgomery County police have tapped into their cash reward program in the hopes of spurring information about the shooting, which investigators believe took place at 10 p.m. around Clubhouse Road and Montgomery Village Avenue, near the McDonald's in the Montgomery Village Center.

Police have only identified the victim as a 25-year-old male. He called a family member after he was shot multiple times, who then called 9-1-1, police said.

Responding officers found him in front of the CVS Pharmacy a few hundred yards away.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call investigators at 240-773-6237. Anonymous callers can contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or enter a tip online. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or indictment.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: 12:05 a.m. Sept. 27 - A man who was shot multiple times Wednesday night in Montgomery Village walked to the Montgomery Village Center, where he collapsed at the doorstep of the CVS Pharmacy, police said.

Montgomery County police were alerted a few minutes after 10 p.m. The victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital in what was believed to be stable condition. As of 11:30 p.m., police had not received confirmation on the victim’s status.

Investigators have not yet pinpointed the scene of the shooting more specifically than “in this Montgomery Village corridor.”

“It didn’t take place here; the victim came here,” said Capt. Dinesh Patil. “We’re back-tracking now to locate a scene.”

The victim was not identified and there were no suspects; K-9 units were deployed.

“We know that we have an adult male shot, and we’re trying to put the rest of the pieces together,” Patil said.

Around 10:30 PM, 9-26-2012; When I walked past the CVS I saw three marked cars and two unmarked cars of the Montgomery County Police in the parking lot blocking people coming into and out of the parking lot. I was looked at very strangely. I was told that the shooting happened in the parking lot between Denny's and the CVS. In 2011, between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve Day, there were about three robberies at this CVS. Is the crime rate going up because we are going towards the holiday season? Christmas in less than ninety days away.

On 9-25-2012, there was a stabbing at Heron's Cove on Mills Choice Road. I saw three marked cars leave the CVS and turn into Heron's Cove after the shooting last night, 9-26-2012. Is there a connection here?

Police haven't issued any information on the 9/25 stabbing, but that's definitely a question we'll be asking today as MCPD makes more information available re: this shooting.

When undesirables move in you get shootings and stabbings. Its a fact of life. Get used to having more of them.

And those undesirable as you refer to them, Joe, have been invited with open arms by delinquent HOA's who have allowed for decades Village communities to deteriorate and depreciate in maintenance making them 'affordable' to the new 'gun slingers and knife-wielders' who have infested Montgomery Village. The recession did less damage to the market value of Village homes than HOA's who have turned blind eyes and not overseen and enforced their very own (on the books) covenant regulations...promises the Village and HOA's made to all of us when we purchased our homes. I can not repeat enough! If one let's a place go to hell, that same person or 'entity' (e.g. HOA) invites the devil in with open arms to become your neighbor!!

Eric, I would hope that we would give Joe the 'benefit of the doubt' when he used term "undesirables". I view the use of the word as anyone (white, black or even purple) who is 'criminally inclined'. I stopped months ago adding any comments on PATCH because too many contributers to this availability on PATCH were using it to stray from real topic at hand & sadly turning every well-intended comment contribution into anything other than it was. Everything suddenly became a cry for 'political correction' & false accusations of 'racial slurs or profiling'. When Rebecca made plea "can't we all just get along", it even shows in comments that we can not even appreciate & respect the often diverse opinions of others or discuss issues like adults to get along on a blog!.

Sharon, thanks for speaking the truth! Let's make the real issue(Crimes) the problem. We live in a country that was founded on Freedom of Speech. Regardless of whether you are a minority or not, if you are carrying guns and knives and causing a havoc in my neighborhood, making it an unsafe place to live and raise kids, YOU ARE AN UNDESIRABLE! What the heck is so offensive about that!?? Please, give me a FREAKIN break!!

Mr. Lewis;

I condemn criminality. I especially condemn violent, predatory criminal acts without exception. Do you?

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE is a breeding ground for crime, the street lights are not adequate , walking home on Montgomery Village ave, is pitch black and buses stop running early do you have no choice. The detail security spends most of their time st 7-11 in the parking lot chatting together. The whole area needs more lights!!

To ResidentMV: More concerned about 'toilets' @ South Village Park than adding more lights that might (in Powers That Be eyes) somehow disrupt or detract from the 'all-important aesthetics' of Montgomery Village Avenue. And lighting in the communities has always been inadequate/minimul. Even with all the crime that is going on, when a community requests more lighting for public safety, the stanard reply is "it doesn't fit in the budget"! So much for 'Village Family Members' safety! {If you want 'plenty of lighting and sense of safety & the feeling of 'warm and fuzzy' in the Village, you're best bet is to sleep @ South Village Park on the baseball field that has gotten so much attention lately as though nothing else was important or existed in Montgomery Village. Hummm!} For decades I have heard the overuse of that word 'aesthetics' while neighborhoods turned into rundown squalors, crime increased primarily due to those conditions, etc. Until priorities change & focus is less on bragging about being 'Tree City' or 'The Best Place to Live' (survey taken by Washingtonian Mag & others who are definitely getting their 'weed fix' from one of the communities in the Village) and focus is more on the communities in which 'real people really live' nothing will improve. Even I, an animal lover, believes the quality of life for residents should take precedence over quality of life for geese & turtles, wouldn't ya at least think?!!!

It is so Sad that I have seen not once...not twice, but on so many occasions more than five MCPD patrol cars and 2 or 3 wanna be cops( security patrol cars) hanging out at the Village 7-11. Guess that's where the real police work gets done!!!!! Should'nt they be out patroling looking for crime, instead of waiting for it to happen. Guess their logic is " You catch more bees with Honey(buns)"

Get rid of HOC housing and vouchers or at least reduce the amounts. I guess the county see's it as more HOC = more Federal $$$$. HOC housing has destroyed the Village.

BB, thats ignorant. Some of the people who are on HOC as the person below you said are decent. Just because someone is on HOC doesnt mean they are bad. Its not HOC housing destroying the village, its people. Dont blame HOC for the actions of other people because HOC customers KNOW the rules of HOC, so i doubt that they are going to be involved in anything thats going to get the kicked off the program

The vast majority of HOC voucher holders are decent folks(mothers and children) who just want a decent place to live.
