Happy Veterans Day, Gaithersburg.
The following City facilities have modiefied schedules today:
- City Hall - Closed
- Senior Center - Closed
- Arts Barn - Closed
- Community Museum - Closed
- Activity Center at Bohrer Park - Open 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Casey Community Center - Open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Gaithersburg Aquatic Center - Open 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Youth Centers in Olde Towne & Robertson Park - Open Noon to 6 p.m.
Gaithersburg will be celebrating Veteran's Day with a ceremony at the Gaithersburg City Hall at 11 a.m. The ceremony includes a key-note speech by Army Reserve Public Affairs Officer, Major Sheldon Smith and wreath laying.
County Executive Isiah Leggett is dedicating Veterans Plaza at the Silver Spring Civic Building at 11 a.m. From 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. there will be panel discussions and workshops, followed by a reception at 6 p.m. and a concert from 7 to 10 p.m. featuring the Jazz Bombers.
Federal, state and county government offices are closed on Thursday. The Quince Orchard Library is also closed.
Montgomery County Public School offices are open. Elementary and Middle Schools have an early dismissal. Students will be dismissed after lunch and schools will distribute report cards and hold parent teacher conferneces.
Metrobus is operating a reduced holiday schedule and Ride On bus is also running a modified holiday schedule.
Trash and recylcing collection is operating as usual.
Patch is honoring veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces by partnering with Intrepid Fallen Heroes, an organization that provides support for families of the fallen.
