University of Maryland freshman wide receiver Stefon Diggs, a Gaithersburg native, was named ACC rookie of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Diggs scored two touchdowns on three receptions for 113 yards in the Terps' 31-21 loss to No. 8 West Virginia on Saturday. The freshman also returns punts and kicks for Maryland and finished the game with 201 all-purpose yards.
A graduate of Olney's Our Lady of Good Counsel high school, Diggs was the No. 8 ranked recruit in the country for the class of 2012, according to Rivals.com.
