Are you looking for a nice hiking trail close to home? Last Saturday a hiking group invited me...Adoptable Debbie Dog!...to join them for a hike on the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail. I had been on this trail last summer...I just didn't know the name of it. This 7.8-mile natural surface trail offers views of the Great Seneca Creek, traverses beautiful upland woodlands, and provides an overlook of the stream valley. Plus there are a lot of great sniffs and smells. This trail is part of the larger Seneca Creek Greenway Trail (SCGT), planned as a 25-mile Greenway connection between the Potomac and Patuxent Rivers. At first I was disappointed the car ride was only a few minutes from home. But then when I saw what a great place this is I didn't mind at all. We parked in the parking lot along Rt 355, just north of Game Preserve Road.
On our hike we saw quite a few bike riders, joggers, and other hikers. And cute dogs too!
