Denise B. Camacho, president of Intrigue Publishing, will discuss the publishing industry and how it has changed over the years. She will discuss the pros and cons of the individual publishing options such as Print-On-Demand, Self-Publishing and small, medium and large traditional publishing companies. She will touch on how to submit to a publisher and what expectations a publisher has of authors and agents.
Denise will take questions about the publishing industry and Intrigue Publishing-specific questions as well.

A short business meeting will precede the speaker.
Saturday, March 1, 2014, 10 a.m. to noon, at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 205 South Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. Find directions at http://www.ascensionmd.org/directions-2.
Guests are asked to park in any open space in the lot surrounding Ascension House, the lot surrounding the main church building, or in the neighboring high school lot. The meeting will be in the white chapel; entry is through the side door that opens onto Summit Avenue.
About the Speaker
As the president of Intrigue Publishing, Denise Camacho has spent more than 13 years navigating through the publishing pitfalls and has finally brought Intrigue into the traditional publisher realm. Denise spends most of her time reading new submissions and working with the acquisitions team to find those works that are worthy of becoming Intrigue properties. (Intrigue is currently taking submissions for crime drama, sensual romance, urban drama, and young adult.) Along with running Intrigue, Denise is very involved with helping authors learn about publishing and marketing and how to avoid some of the major pitfalls within the industry.
