Volunteers needed to help seniors with monthly money management

In Gaithersburg and Germantown areas:

Volunteers are needed to help seniors balance their checkbook, prepare checks for client signatures, ensure bills are paid on time and be a second set of eyes to watch for mail fraud/scams.  Clients are often homebound, disabled, visually impaired or forgetful.   Many have no family, relatives or friends to help them manage their finances.   The service is free to clients who meet income eligibility guidelines.

Volunteers have the opportunity to be matched with a client and visit in their home once or twice a month to keep track of income and expenses. The time commitment is one year of service with an average of 6 hours per month. This is an opportunity to build a long-term relationship.  Volunteers should have a solid knowledge of household budgeting and be patient, open, friendly and organized.
