Gaithersburg Museum Accepting Damaged U.S. Flags for Disposal

Retire your worn or damaged flags properly by dropping them off at the Gaithersburg Community Museum. The American Legion will dispose of them.

From Montgomery Community Media:

The Gaithersburg Community Museum is accepting worn or damaged U.S. flags to be turned over to the American Legion for a proper retirement in honor of Flag Day on June 14.

An American flag that has become worn, tattered or damaged beyond repair requires proper disposal, with burning being the preferred method, according to U.S. flag code.

The Community Museum is located at 9 S. Summit Avenue. It is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
