Interim Library at Lakeforest Mall Closes October 31

MCPL: Closure signals move to new library space.

Gaithersburg Interim Library at Lakeforest Mall will close Oct. 31, signaling the opening of the newly renovated library, library officials announced Wednesday.

The temporary site opened at the mall in December 2010. The closure is meant to allow staff to begin moving materials to the new a space at 18330 Montgomery Village Ave., library officials said in a news release.

The move is expected to take eight to 10 weeks, library officials said.

The library renovation project expands the existing 33,700 square-foot structure by adding 22,200 square feet on the main level and 7,900 square feet on a partial second floor that will hold the meeting rooms, mechanical rooms, storage and a satellite office of the Gilchrist Center, according to the project’s official blog

A date for the public grand opening will has not yet been announced.
