Mail Truck Spill Spoils Thursday Morning Commute
Overturned mail truck temporarily shut down part of I-270 near Shady Grove Road.
Post-holiday commuters on their way back to work got a special delivery on Interstate 270 on Thursday morning.
A truck carrying mail overturned on northbound I-270 near Shady Grove Road, spilling its contents all over the highway, NBC Washington reports.
As a result, all of the northbound traffic lanes had closed at around 7:30 a.m., according to an alert sent out by the State Highway Administration.

Most of the lanes had re-opened by 9 a.m., according to SHA traffic data.
The cause of the overturn was unknown, NBC Washington reports.
