Metrorail News: Red Line Weekend Track Work

Red Line trains will single-track between Takoma and Forest Glen this weekend.

This weekend, Metro work crews will spend some time on the eastern branch of the Red Line.

Between 10 p.m. on Friday, July 13, and closing on Sunday, July 15, Red Line trains will single-track between the Takoma and Forest Glen Metrorail stations "to allow for station platform reconstruction and fiber optic cable installation," according to Metro's website.

"Throughout the weekend, Red Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont stations. Customers should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time," Metro added.

But, on Saturday and Sunday, between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., the Red Line gets a boost in the form of additional trains running between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet, "resulting in service every 10 minutes" between those stations, Metro reported.
