Osprey Encounters on the Patuxent

  • Where:  Meadowside Nature Center, 5100 Meadowside Ln, Rockville
  • When:  Saturday, June 15, 8 a.m.
  • Description:  Visitors are invited to spend the day at Patuxent River Park and get a close-up view of osprey while learning about ongoing research on these unique birds of prey. Patuxent naturalist Greg Kearns has been conducting osprey banding and education trips for many years and will have lots of information and stories to share.
  • Cost: $40

5th Annual Aspen Hill Caribbean-American Heritage Celebration

  • Where:  Aspen Hill Library, 4407 Aspen Hill Rd, Rockville
  • When:  Saturday, June 15, 1:30 p.m.
  • Description:  The celebration will feature Caribbean music by Lennard Jack & Fusion, dance by Caribbean Dance Traditions, and food from Nice ‘n Spicy Jamaican Restaurant.  The celebration is sponsored by the Friends of the Aspen Hill Library.
  • Cost: Free

CityDance Conservatory Dancers in Concert

  • Where:  Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Ln, North Bethesda
  • When:  Sunday, June 16, 7:30 p.m.
  • Description:  The young talents of CityDance Conservatory take to the main stage at Strathmore for an exciting evening of dance! The performance will highlight the challenging contemporary, classical and fusion repertory from the 2012-2013 season with works by Conservatory faculty choreographers Robert J. Priore, Christopher K. Morgan, Junichi Fukuda, Vikki Weinberger and more, as well as classical repertory coached by the Conservatory ballet faculty and ballet mistress Ludmila Morkovina.

School House Rock! Live! at The Arts Barn

  • Where:  311 Kent Square Rd, North Potomac
  • When:  Saturday, June 15, 2 p.m.
  • Description:  The Emmy Award-winning 70's Saturday morning cartoon comes to life at The Arts Barn. Featuring favorites such as "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction". Great for all ages, especially children.
  • Cost:  $18

DC's Finest Blues Fiddle Band in Germantown

  • Where:  La Mexicana, 13016 Middlebrook Rd, Germantown
  • When:  Saturday, June 15, 9 p.m.
  • Description:  The Roustabouts return to La Mexicana in Germantown with a fresh line-up of blues, rock and funk tunes.
  • Cost: $5

Bethesda Art Walk

  • Where:  7700 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda
  • When:  Friday, June 14, 6-9 p.m.
  • Description:  Galleries stay open late to showcase new exhibits featuring original artwork along with opening receptions.
  • Cost:  Free

Campfire Program “Stars and Planets”

  • Where:  Seneca Creek State Park, 11950 Clopper Rd, Gaithersburg
  • When:  Friday, June 14, 8 p.m.
  • Description:  Visitors are invited to join the Seneca Creek State Park Naturalist to learn how to identify constellations, stars and planets of the summer sky.
  • Cost:  $2

Laugh Riot at the Hyatt

  • Where:  Hyatt Regency Bethesda, 1 Bethesda Metro Ctr, Bethesda
  • When:  Saturday, June 15, 8 p.m.
  • Description:  Live standup comedy show.  $25 cash prize joke contest for non-comic audience members after the show.
  • Cost: $10

Orvis Rolls Out FREE Fly Fishing Clinics at Bethesda Retail Store

  • Where:  7000 Wisconsin Ave, Chevy Chase
  • When:  Saturday, June 15, all day
  • Description:  Orvis retail stores and participating dealers in your area will offer free fly fishing lessons. All ages are welcome, but those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Cost: Free
