Report: Synthetic Turf Field Coming To Gaithersburg In Spring 2014

Gazette: Project will cost $1 million.

Construction and installation of a $1 million synthetic field turf in Gaithersburg will begin this fall, according to a report by The Gazette.

The field will be located near Lakelands Park Middle School, where a joint-use agreement with the city will allow students and teachers to use the field during the day, according to the report.

The state's "Program Open Space" initiative will pay 75 percent of the cost.

“It’s a project that we have wanted to do for an extremely long time,” Michele Potter, director of Gaithersburg’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture told The Gazette.

The field will be 60 yards by 120 yards, and will be built on 1.5 acres of the existing 11.6 acre site.
