The A to Z's of Daily Deal Sites
In honor of Cyber Monday, I thought I'd switch it up for a week and do a quick rundown of the daily deals sites in the area.
Everyone knows about Groupon and Living Social, but there are many, many more sites that should show up on your radar for deals that are equally as good and, in fact, sometimes better.
Below is an exhaustive list of 45 of them that have hit my radar:
I should point out that, while I’ve purchased many a daily deal in my day, I haven’t tested each of these so I can’t vouch for the customer service and such for each of them.

I posted the sites from A to Z rather than categorizing them by my perceived quality, but I did point out a few that I thought were especially worthy of a glance.
If you know of any other sites that I didn’t include or if you have your own opinions of some of these, by all means, please post a comment.

Finally, if you want to make it easy on yourself and not receive 45 individual emails every day, I post all of these daily deals and more on a per city basis each day at www.tims.us so check it out and let me do the work of sorting this all out for you!
Let the savings begin!
Amazon Local – A new deal every day. LivingSocial owns a stake here so you’ll find similar-type deals, but on a smaller scale.
Angie’s List – 1-2 home repair and maintenance deals per week. Non-members pay more than members, but still less than full price.
Big Tip – Lots of local deals of the $5 to $10 off variety.
Bloomspot – A new deal every day. A more elite clientele of restaurants & spas.
Buy With Me by Gilt – A new deal every day. Recently purchased by Gilt, so expect the quality to continue to trend upwards.
Capitol Deal – A new deal every day. Operated by The Washington Post.
Cater Wire – About 1 deal a month. As the name suggests, these deals are targeted towards larger scale meal options.
CBS Local – About 1 deal a week.
Certifikid – A new deal every day. Mostly centered around children’s outings and party options.
DealOn – About 1 deal a week. Started out mostly local, but trending towards product-based deals.
Deal Chicken – A new deal every day. Operated by Gannett.
Dealfind – A new deal every day. Frequent repeats of past deals.
Deals For Deeds – A new deal every day. A portion of the proceeds go to charity. Will merge with Recoup on December 1. Impact unknown.
Dealster – A new deal just about every day, but most are product-based rather than business based and the local deals tend to be repeats of past deals.
Double Take Deals – 5-10 deals posted every month. One of my personal favorites for desirable deals.
EverSave – A new deal every day, mostly in Maryland and DC.
FundsOn – A few new deals per month. Tied in with various schools in the area with a portion of the proceeds going to the respective schools.
Gazette – A new Montgomery County deal just about every day.
Google – A new deal every day. Standard daily deal site.
Groupon – Several new deals every day, some local, some national, some online. Be sure to check out their Now deals also.
Half Off – Several deals posted each month. As the name implies, each is a 50% off deal.
Home Run – A new deal every day. Standard daily deal site.
Jujani – A few new deals per month. Barely made my list!
KGB – A new deal every day. Recently purchased What’s the Deal and several other deal sites. Their deals have noticeably improved recently.
Living Social - Several new deals every day, some local, some national, some online. Be sure to check out their Instant deals also.
Live Openly – A few deals per month. I recently found this one so I’m admittedly not quite on top of it yet.
Mobile Spinach – A whole bunch of deals at any given time, mostly $3 to $5 off.
Open Table – A few restaurant deals per month.
Patch – 1-2 deals per week. Support Patch!
Plum District – A new deal just about every day. Mostly family oriented. I’ve personally found some diamonds in the rough.
Restaurant.com – Tons of restaurant deals. You can usually buy a $25 gift certificate for $2 or $3 with a discount code, but be careful… there’s usually a minimum spend required.
SalesVote – A few deals per month. Focus appears to be shifting from a contest between businesses to rewards to the buyers.
ScoutMob – A new deal every day. Awesome concept. Think Groupon without having to pay a penny up front.
Service Alley – A new service-oriented deal just about every week. Operated by The Washington Post.
SignPost – A few new deals per month. Another new find for me so I don’t have a lot of info on this one yet.
Specialicious – Several new deals each day, primarily in Northern Viriginia. Operated by Northern Virginia Magazine. One of my personal favorites for desirable deals.
Tippr – A new deal just about every day. Mostly local deals, but they mix in a few national and product deals as well.
Travel Zoo Local Deals – A few non-travel deals per month.
Troop Swap – A deal just about every day available only to military personnel.
Trubates – A whole slew of local deals available at any given time.
Washington Family – About 1 deal per week. As the name implies, these deals are family based.
Wooftastic – 1 deal ever Wednesday, usually for a local business that caters to dogs.
Yip Deals – A handful of deals each week, mostly for Loudoun County businesses.
Your Best Deal – A few deals per month though most of the deals have been on the site for a long time.
