Waverly Street Gallery Holiday Exhibition of 24 Gallery Artists

  • Where:  Waverly Street Gallery, 4600 East West Hwy, Bethesda

  • Description:   Twenty-four gallery artists present artwork, gifts, ceramics, jewelry, paintings, prints, sculptures and more.

Harmony Express Men's Chorus

  • Where:  11701 Clopper Rd, Gaithersburg
  • When: Sunday, Dec. 23, 7:30 p.m.
  • Description:  2010 Southern Division AA Champions and 2011 Southern Division 2nd Place Chorus and Most Improved Chorus performs.

The Nutcracker

  • Where: Montgomery College, 51 Mannakee St, Rockville
  • When: Friday, December 21, 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22 and Sunday, Dec. 23 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Description:  The Maryland Youth Ballet presents their 23rd season of The Nutcracker.
  • Cost: $23

 

Nutcracker Olney Ballet Theater

 

Mystery Dinner Theater

  • Where: 7711 Eastern Ave, Silver Spring
  • When:  Friday, Dec. 21, Saturday, Dec. 22, 6 p.m.
  • Description:  A murder mystery is performed at The Historic Blair Mansion Inn. The cast takes modern themes to create a backdrop for the murderer to commit their crime. Then, that's when the crowd steps in to guess who committed the devious act.

Holly Trollyfest

  • Where:  National Capital Trolley Museum, 1313 Bonifant Rd, Colesville
  • When:  Saturday, Dec. 22, 12 p.m.
  • Description:  Santa rides the trolleys at the National Capital Trolley Museum every December weekend before Christmas.  Museum tours will be given to show off holiday décor and Christmas Train Garden.
  • Cost: $5

 

A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas

  • Where:  Olney Theatre Center, 2001 Olney-Sandy Spring Road, Olney
  • When:  Friday, Nov. 30 – Saturday, Dec. 29, 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
  • Description:  The Olney Theatre Center presents Paul Morella’s solo version of a Christmas Carol.
  • Cost: $26

 

Festival of Lights

  • Where:  9900 Stoneybrook Drive, Kensington
  • When:  Saturday, Nov. 30 – Saturday, Jan. 1, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Description:  More than 600,000 lights. International crèche exhibit, 18 indoor decorated trees, outdoor life-sized nativity, and live performances nightly.
  • Cost:  Free

 

Garden of Lights - Winter Walk-through Holiday Light Display

  • Where:Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Ave, Silver Spring
  • When: Sunday through Thursday 5:30-9:00pm, Friday and Saturday 5:30-10:00pm and on New Year’s Eve until 9:00pm.
  • Description:  16th annual holiday light display. Nightly musical performances by local musicians as well as refreshments and shopping.
  • Cost: $25.00

 

 

17th Annual, Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival

  • Where:  Seneca Creek State Park, 11950 Clopper Rd, Gaithersburg
  • When: Sunday, Nov. 25 – Sunday, Dec. 30, Sun, Tues-Thurs 6-9 p.m., Fri. – Sat. 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Description:  3.5 mile drive through 350 light displays, 60 of them animated.
  • Cost:  Monday – Thursday: $12.00, Friday – Sunday: $15.00, cash only at the gate.

 

The 79th Annual International Exhibition of Fine Art in Miniature

  • Where:  Mansion at Strathmore, 10701 Rockville Pike
  • When:  Friday, Dec. 21-29, Weekdays: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Description:  674 miniature works of art done by 264 artists.  No work is larger than 25 square inches.  Many works require a magnifying glass to be able to see and appreciate the fine detail.  Magnifying glasses are available for close examination.  The exhibition runs through December 29.
  • Cost: Free
