Two Farmers at Gaithersburg Markets Now Accepting SNAP

Two farmers at Gaithersburg markets are now accepting SNAP payments for fresh fruits and vegetables.

From a news release:

Gaithersburg residents wishing to use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program money to purchase fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables can visit one of two farmers that can now accept it. SNAP is this country’s largest domestic hunger safety net program.

Scenic View Orchards from Sabillasville, MD, visits the Fulks Corner Farmers Market in Olde Towne on Thursdays from 1 to 6 p.m. The market, operating at the corner of Rt. 355 and Fulks Corner Avenue, runs through Nov. 20. In addition to seasonal fruits and vegetables, other vendors also sell pickled and preserved items, baked goods and meats.

Homestead Farm, from Faulkner, MD, visits the Main Street Farmers Market in Kentlands on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market, which operates out of the Main Street pavilion, runs through Nov. 22. A variety of local artists, acoustic performers, and vendors with unique handcrafted items join the farmers at this location each Saturday, and fresh prepared foods, potted plants and cut flowers are also available.

Homestead Farm will also visit the Fulks Corner Market June 26 through August 19. 

Gaithersburg Farmers Markets are Eat Fresh Maryland partners, fully committed to increasing access to fresh, local food for Marylanders of all backgrounds and incomes through federal nutrition benefits. Both markets also accept WIC, FVC and FMNP checks.
