Wine and Beer Tasting in the Kentlands

The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 8th Annual Wine and Beer Tasting and Charity Bake Sale at Kentlands Mansion on May 19, 2011 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.

Imagine unwinding after a long day at work with a nice glass of wine. Or beer. Or a sweet treat.

Imagine getting a sampling of all of the above.

Tomorrow evening, the City of Gaithersburg, PB Dye Golf Club and Pinky and Pepe's Grape Escape are co-sponsoring a wine and beer tasting and charity bake sale at Kentlands Mansion. The event starts at 5:30 pm and lasts until 7:30 pm. Registration ends today, May 18, 2011. Advance registration is required for the event. Members pay $35 and non-members $65.

The event features wines and beers donated by Pinky and Pepe's Grape Escape and hor'douvres prepared by Chef Bryan Davis of P.B. Dye Golf Club. The Gaithersburg Hilton is sponsoring the bake sale as well as a raffle and prizes throughout the evening.

A variety of beers and wines, including the new Sam Adams Cream Stout and Babbo Proseco and Loew Raspberry, will be served and five food stations will sample foods and accompanying beverages from the golf club's kitchen.

According to Laura Rowles, Director of Events and  Marketing for the GGCC, 85 people are already registered for the event.

"We usually expect around 130. There is definitely still room for more to register," she said.

"This is a great networking event," said Marilyn Balcombe, GGCC Executive Director. "The venue at Kentlands Mansion is wonderful and an attractive asset in Gaithersburg. It's a beautiful setting. People love to visit Kentlands. The refreshments are great, and we have built a lasting parternship with the Hilton Hotel. The charity bake sale is not only fun, but it helps promote a cause. All in all, it's a great combination of sponsors and participants. It's not just a feel-good event. We get business done," she said.

Proceeds from the charity bake sale go to Give the Kids the World, a "story-book" resort in Florida where children with life-threatening illnesses enjoy a week-long free vacation with their families. Attendance dues from the event benefit the GGCC.

Additional event sponsors include: BB&T Bank and Crown Trophy.
