3 Holiday Shows to See at BlackRock in December

Germantown arts venue hopes 'Capital Hearings,' swing dancing and the Lloyd Dobler Effect performances can help make your season bright.

An A Cappella Holiday with the Capital Hearings
What: With repertoire ranging from Renaissance motets to modern hits, The Capital Hearings will be making spirits bright with this festive, family-friendly program. This dynamic a cappella ensemble makes its BlackRock debut with a mix of seasonal favorites, vocal jazz, and contemporary arrangements. 
When: 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15
Tickets: $14–$22

Holiday Swing Lesson and Party with Gotta Swing & Daryl Davis
What: There’s nothing like a high-energy night of swing dancing to raise spirits and keep off extra holiday calories! Participants will get a dance lesson from Gotta Swing before hitting the floor solo or with a partner, all while enjoying the infectious boogie-woogie sounds of BlackRock favorite Daryl Davis. This night will certainly get spirits up and your holiday cheer flowing.
When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19
Tickets: $20. 

Lloyd Dobler Effect: Holiday Experience
What: Local favorite, Lloyd Dobler Effect (named for the character in the 1980s film Say Anything) has gained a stellar reputation on the national college circuit and worldwide music scene as the next great band to watch. LDE as they are commonly known, is a group of full-time touring musicians having shared the stage with music greats such as Santana, Jane's Addiction, Enimem, Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind and many more. With a holiday theme, and an appearance from Santa, fans of ’80s, ’90s and holiday hits do not want to miss this show.
When: 5 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21
Tickets: $15.
