City Partners for Day of Service with County, Takoma Park, Garrett Park

Two MLK essay contest winners selected from Washington Grove Elementary School.

Gaithersburg is again partnering with Montgomery County, Takoma Park and Garrett Park to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The city website says County residents are encouraged to participate in a day of service, with projects happening at the Universities of Shady Grove from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Silver Spring Civic Building from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel from 1 to 3 p.m.  For more information on the service element please contact the Montgomery County Volunteer Center at 240-777-2600or visit www.montgomeryserves.org.   

A Literary Arts Contest, in partnership with the city and the Gazette newspaper, produced two winners from Washington Grove Elementary School: Stefan N’Guessan and Sonali Noronha, both fourth grade students.
