2011 National Memorial Day Parade

The National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC is a flag-waving event with patriotic marches and floats. The Parade is sponsored by the World War II Veterans Committee and is an annual tradition of remembrance for those who have died serving our country. The 2011 National Memorial Day Parade will include a very special tribute to the fallen of September 11, 2001, as we approach the 10th anniversary of the attacks, focusing on the many stories of heroism during one of our country’s darkest hours. The parade will also include a commemoration of the Centennial of Naval Aviation, a tribute to the Special Operations community which is currently leading the fight in Afghanistan, and recognition of the 70th anniversary of the U.S. entry into World War II and the 20th anniversary of the Gulf War. Participating will also be musical performers and celebrity veterans and supporters of the military, including Pat Sajak, Gary Sinise, Joe Mantegna, and Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan. The parade will be televised live to U.S. service members around the world on The Pentagon Channel. The National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC is a flag-waving event with patriotic marches and floats.
