“Driving Miss Daisy” at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn

The Arts Barn Theater presents a Montgomery Playhouse production of Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry.  The show, which offers a warm-hearted, affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an aging, crotchety Southern lady and a proud, soft spoken black man, runs October 7 through 23.   Performances will be held on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.  Please note that there will be no performance on Sunday, October 9 because of the City’s 20th Anniversary Oktoberfest Celebration.  This show is suitable for ages 12 and older.  Parental guidance is suggested.

ABOUT: Miss Daisy, a rich widow of 72, is told by her son that she must get a driver.  He hires a thoughtful, unemployed black man whom she immediately regards with disdain.  In a series of absorbing scenes spanning 25 years, the two grow closer and realize that they have more in common than times would ever allow them to admit.
