"The sculpture, 'Euphony,' is one that I have designed for the public grounds in [front of] the Concert Pavilion in historic downtown Gaithersburg. The group of three dancing bronze animals: a frog playing the violin, a rabbit playing the trumpet and a turtle conducting with baton, greets the public upon entering the pavilion lawn. Because of the fantasy aspect of this composition, each animal is exaggerated, and different from its natural size (and proportion).  'Euphony,' as described in the American Heritage Dictionary is: 'an agreeable sound, especially in the phonetic quality of words; sounds that are agreeable musically and harmonically to the ear.'  Discovery through music and art is what I am seeking to convey through fantastic imagery. It is with humor and satire through the personification of common creatures that makes this piece appropriate as public art for the Concert Pavilion in historic downtown Gaithersburg."

The city of Gaithersburg currently has 14 pieces of art as part of its Art in Public Places program. Over the course of August, September and October, Gaithersburg Patch will photograph and provide info from the city for each piece. Visit the city of Gaithersburg website for more information about the Art in Public Places program.
