Silver Spring's 8407 Kitchen Bar (8407 Ramsey Ave.) might be one of the best places for folks to meet up for a meal. That is what co-owner Nancy Hart had in mind when she and her partner designed the modern restaurant on Ramsey Avenue, Silver Spring Patch reported.

"We really wanted to create a neighborhood restaurant where people could have great food, have a great experience, and not have to go to DC," said Hart, general manager and partner at 8407.

A new exhibit at the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens (4155 Linnean Ave. NW, Washington, DC) showcases, among other things, a newly displayed cocktail bar with 1960s barware reminiscent of retro TV show Mad MenBethesda-Chevy Chase Patch reported. The house was last owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post, heiress of Post Cereal founder C.W. Post and one of Washington, DC's last and greatest society women.

And, the historic house museum's dining table—originally commissioned for Post's glamorous Palm Beach estate—is, for the first time in many years, uncovered. If you go, be sure to examine the intricate hard-stone mosaic pattern, created by Florentine artisans, across the table top. The table is set with Post's Venetian glass plates and goblets used at her Palm Beach property, according to the museum.
