Speak Out: Would You Camp Out for Free Fast Food?

Hundreds are expected turn out for the grand opening of bright and early Thursday morning — and many of them will be hoping for something more than just a hot chicken biscuit.

The fast food chain, famous for inventing the "boneless breast of chicken sandwich" and its waffle fries, will be opening its newest location in Gaithersburg this week. The first 100 customers will each receive 52 vouchers for free Chick-fil-A meals — essentially one free value meal a week for a year. The prize is worth $260.

But claiming the prize won't be quite as simple as just showing up on time. A spokeswoman for the company told Patch in an email message that Chick-fil-A grand openings in other towns have drawn crowds of up to 450 people. Many hopefuls are expected to camp overnight for a chance at the prize pack. (In an last month, about half of the respondents indicated they had no intention of pitching a tent on the pavement.)

If more than 100 people are waiting in line 24 hours prior to the grand opening, the store will organize a raffle drawing for the vouchers, which will be distributed at about 6 a.m. Thursday.
