EDGE COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE MOVES CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS TO 656 QUINCE ORCHARD ROAD, PROVIDES ROOM TO ACCOMMODATE FIRM'S MASSIVE EXPANSION IN 2014 AND BEYOND

March 27, 2014 (Gaithersburg, MD) – EDGE Commercial Real Estate, the leading locally owned commercial real estate advisory, management and investment company in the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area, announces today that it has relocated its corporate headquarters from Bethesda to 656 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

“Our strategy holds true to our productivity and results-driven culture. We traded the cache of a Bethesda address for dramatically superior, direct arterial access to I-270 north/south and the Inter-County Connector for east/west access,” says EDGE Managing Partner Joseph Sutton Jr., adding that “at the end of the day, we are going to be the ‘smartest guys in the room,’ because EDGE is now spending significantly less time on the road and has more time to service our clients.”

This move, according to Sutton, will better allow the firm to continue its considerable workforce expansion. Due to strong client demand for its fully integrated services and unique business model, in 2014 EDGE will double the number of advisers it employs.

Currently, the company has a staff of approximately 50 people and, in three years, anticipates growing to 150 professionals. To accommodate its ongoing growth, EDGE, which has a second office in Tyson’s Corner, plans later this year to open a third office in Washington, D.C.

Sutton notes that the company’s Maryland office was, until now, in a building that the firm owned in downtown Bethesda. In 2013, EDGE restructured its interest in this Bethesda property and made a strategic decision to move to 656 Quince Orchard Road, a building that the company leases and manages.

“Our move to Gaithersburg was compelling not only because of the efficiency gains reaped by the dramatically more convenient location, but also because the building is owned by a valued client, Federal Realty Investment Trust, and EDGE will oversee a sweeping renovation of the office complex, while the shopping center is also renovated. This corner location with direct access to I-270 will certainly become a prominent landmark for the area,” Sutton says.
