PALADAR LATIN KITCHEN & RUM BAR COMING TO GAITHERSBURG

Gaithersburg, MD…  June 2014… The bold and fresh flavors of Latin America will be coming to Gaithersburg when Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar opens its third location in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area on September 19, 2014. Paladar, a Cuban term for small, soulful and comforting restaurants that people run out of their homes, will be located at Downtown Crown, 203 Crown Park Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. The restaurant will feature an American interpretation of the vibrant flavors of Central and South America and the Latin Caribbean, with a special nod to the cuisine of Cuba. The Rum Bar will offer a selection of over 50 rums.

Says Andy Himmel, Co-CEO, “It is our goal to provide an upbeat, fresh American interpretation of Latin food, borrowing and blending from the many unique aspects of the various cultures represented by the menu offerings. We see Paladar as approachable, affordable and comfortable – a place to go not just for special occasions, but also for any occasion. The 299-seat restaurant and bar will incorporate a clean and sophisticated style that blends modern and rustic design elements of Latin culture. The lunch and dinner menus will feature appetizers, soups, salads, Latin comfort food, fresh seafood, steaks and chops, sandwiches, and desserts.  Signature dishes include slow roasted and grilled meats and fish, including Cuban Braised Beef Ropa Vieja, Blackened Fish Tacos, Plantain Crusted Crab Croquetas and three kinds of guacamole served with a chip blend of plantain, yucca, malanga and tortilla. The Rum Bar will offer flavored and spiced rums, white and gold rums, dark rums and aged rums. Guests can order rum flights and tasting-size pours. In addition, there will be specialty drinks, including hand-muddled Mojitos and Caipirinhas and freshly prepared Margaritas. Brunch selections include bottomless mimosas, Chipotle Honey Chicken & Cornbread and Maple Pulled Pork & Fried Eggs.

 

Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar will be open seven days a week: Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Paladar offers a traditional happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week and a late night happy hour from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. A private dining area holds up to 34 people and the semi-private area accommodates up to 55. Seasonal patio dining will be available. Takeout and catering will be available for lunch and dinner. There are two convenient and free parking garages.
