Aspiring Voter for 2016

A high school student's feelings about voting in 2016.

I like politics, but not for the usual reasons. While I do enjoy the right to vote for who we choose to lead our nation. (a right that some of my peers would do well to exercise) I like the more frowned upon parts of politics, the muckraking stories that rivals rush to publish against each other, I like the frivolous parties that show up every elections as well as their entertaining but captivating heads (Vermin Supreme, Jimmy McMillian. To put the entire thing quite simply, I'm excited to vote.

For years on end I've watched my family vote and the month before elections, the house gets quiet as my Mother and Grandmother both like to form accurate opinions on their candidate. Even though they both watched things pertaining to them throughout the last 4 years, they still like to have a mini-cheat sheet to make sure they aren't making a bad choice.

Not only that, but I think voting is necessary to make a change in any society. Too often do people complain about a lack of change within the government, or policies and yet they still choose to abstain from voting. It confuses me to no end but, it's the human conundrum.

All in all, it's killing me a little inside that I have to wait another 4 years to help make a difference in the country, but when I am of the age to vote, I'll be eager to make sure it counts.
