  • A former Catholic priest and Georgetown Prep teacher was charged with Sexual Abuse. After being arrested and released in Pennsylvania on Jan. 19, Garrett David Orr turned himself in to Montgomery County Police on Jan. 25.
  • A week after a snowstorm created havoc with power lines and trees, some of the fallen limbs were still blocking residential streets and creating headaches for homeowners Wednesday. Homeowners are responsible for getting rid of large branches that have fallen from trees on their property.
  • Despite the gorgeous weather, Pepco reported 1500 outages Wednesday night. Power was restored early Thursday morning. Jan. 26’s snow storm yielded . Many homes were in the dark for four days.
  • Election season began in Rockville on Wednesday as city Councilman Piotr Gajewski publicly announced that he is exploring a run for mayor. Gajewski said that he will run either for re-election or for the city’s top elected post. Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio said that she intends to run for re-election.
  • Frigid temperatures and debilitating winter weather would normally signal the end of farmers’ market season. But, according to new data from the Department of Agriculture, more and more markets are open year-round. In Maryland, the number of year-round markets has increased by about 17 percent, including offerings in Montgomery County.
