Gaithersburg Mayor Affirms Run For County Council

The campaign would pit mayor against a Gaithersburg City Councilman who's also seeking the County Council seat.

Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney A. Katz says he’s made up his mind and will run for Montgomery County Council, The Gazette reports.

The mayor said in December that he was considering running for the District 3 council seat being vacated by Councilman Phil Andrews, who’s running for County Executive.

He tells the newspaper that community support played a major factor in his decision to run.
