Gaithersburg SportsFest 2013

Children of all ages can celebrate youth sports at SportsFest 2013, hosted by the City of Gaithersburg on Saturday, July 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Youth entering grades K through 8 can participate in a 1K Fun Run followed by challenges in football, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, track and field, and cross-country. Admission is free.

Mayor Sidney A. Katz will start the 1K Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. After that, participants can visit each of the challenge stations.


Top-level collegiate baseball players from the Gaithersburg Giants of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League will lead the baseball challenge and Keyote, the Frederick Keys Mascot, will be howling around the grounds.

SportsFest 2013 is the kickoff for the Let’s Move Gaithersburg initiative, which promotes healthier lifestyles in the City, and National Parks and Recreation Month.
