Kentlands Downtown Partnership 5th Annual Tree Lighting

Jingle Bells, caroling, twinkling lights – all sights and
sounds of the holiday season. You can find all these at the 5th
Annual Kentlands Tree Lighting sponsored by the Kentlands Downtown Partnership.
On Sunday December 8th from 4-5:30 PM the plaza at Market Square
behind the Star Diner will be filled with holiday spirit. Kids will be able to
make ornaments with the folks from My Gym Kentlands. They will then be able to
place their ornaments to adorn the tree, which is graciously donated by Potomac
Garden Center. The Mayor of Gaithersburg, Sydney Katz and various city council
members will be there as the crowd joins in counting down to the moment when
the tree is lit with strands of bright lights donated by Hallco Enterprises. There
will be food and hot chocolate for sale. You can eat, drink and browse the
tables set up by local merchants all while being entertained by local musical
and performing acts. The event is fun for the whole family. If there is enough
spirit in the plaza we might even be treated to a visit by the jolly man in red
riding on a fire truck officially welcoming in the holiday season. For more
