Gaithersburg news in brief.

The city of Gaithersburg released the following news within the last week:

Department of Environmental Protection and WSSC to Sponsor H2O Summit

The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission are sponsoring a free H2O Summit to educate participants about how their actions affect local streams and rivers and how they can get involved in protecting drinking water.

The early session, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is for adults who will learn how they can help protect and improve water quality. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can test a water tank, create a masterpiece with recycled material, play stream games and much more. These activities and exhibits will be offered by local organizations and green businesses to highlight the need to maintain water quality and sustain the environment.

The event will be held Saturday, March 16 at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park. More information is available on the city of Gaithersburg website.

Tuesdays With Morrie Tells Moving Story at Arts Barn

The Arts Barn presents Paul Morella and Craig Miller in the Washington area premiere of Tuesdays with Morrie, a drama based on the autobiographical book by Mitch Albom. The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is Stanley J. Alster, 2012 Gaithersburg Distinguished Citizen. More information is available on the city of Gaithersburg website

Astounding Magic, Interactive Theater Amazes Audiences at Arts Barn

Magicians Mark Phillips, Bob Sheets, Barry Wood, and Brian Curry invite you to join them as members of the exotic, strange, and amusingly interactive Comedy & Magic Society.

As audience members enter the theatre, they’ll step into the secret and very kooky world of the CMS, a collection of zany characters not quite clever enough to take themselves lightly. This season’s periodic “Society Meetings” - each with a different agenda, frequently with guest artists - will be held on Friday evenings, March 1, April 26, and May 10 and 31. All performances begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. More information is available on the city of Gaithersburg website.
