Gaithersburg Father-Son Duo ‘Run’ The World

Some dads and sons build birdhouses and watch baseball. 

For Gordon Borkat and his son, Jarrod, it’s running marathons—on every continent on this globe.

"This is really something that anyone can do," said Gordon Borkat, the dad. "We can take care of ourselves and keep going on forever."

The Borkats were honored at the Gaithersburg City Council meeting on Monday. Jarrod, who is married and has daughters who are reportedly interested in marathons, said its been an honor running with his dad for the past 13 years.

"What better way to connect three of the four things that I love: Family, travel and fitness," Jarrod Borkat said during Monday night’s council meeting."
