Father Charged with First-Degree Murder

Son killed in Saturday night shooting.

Update, 3:01 p.m.: Montgomery County Police identified the victim of the Saturday night shooting death as Matthew Eugene Price.

His father, Wayne Matthew Price, 55, has been charged with first-degree murder, police said. His bail review is set for 1 p.m. Monday.

Sixth District Police officers as well as fire and rescue personnel were sent to an apartment parking lot in the 7900 block of Spiceberry Circle in Gaithersburg about 8:44 p.m. Saturday.

Matthew Price, 23, was found lying on the pavement in front of the building, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, police said. Fire and rescue personnel attempted life-saving efforts but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Wayne Price remained on scene and was taken into police custody. Detectives found the gun believed to be used in the homicide.

A 23-year-old was killed in Gaithersburg on Saturday night, and police have taken the victim's father into custody.

Officers were called to the 7900 block of Spiceberry Circle about 8:44 p.m. for the report of a shooting, police said. The victim was found and his 55-year-old was still on the scene, police said.

In a news release, police did not release the name of either man. The release said more information will be provided at the investigation continues.
