Gaithersburg Crime: Armed Robberies, Residential Burglaries and More

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Montgomery County police released a crime summary for June 25 through July 3. The following incidents were reported in Gaithersburg:

An armed robbery occurred behind Gaithersburg Elementary School, located at 35 North Summit Avenue, on Sunday, July 1 between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.

An armed robbery occurred at McDonalds, located at 18273 Flower Hill Way on Saturday, June 30, just before 7 p.m.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 18700 block of Blue Violet Lane on Tuesday, June 26 around 5:30 p.m.

An aggravated assault occurred in the 8800 block of Cross Country Place on Monday, July 2. The suspect is known to the victim.

An aggravated assault occurred in the unit block of Trento Court on Sunday, July 1 around 2:30 a.m. The suspect, 27, is known to the victim and was arrested.

An aggravated assault occurred in the unit block of North Summit Drive on Monday, July 2 around 12:45 a.m. The suspect in known to the victim.

A residential burglary occurred on the 300 block of West Side Drive between Saturday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 1 at 9:30 a.m. Entry to the home was not forced and property was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 8000 block of Cloverwood Court on Tuesday, July 3 around 6 p.m. Entry to the home was forced and it's unclear what was taken.

A residential burglary was reported in the 20400 block of Lindos Court on Sunday, July 1.

A residential burglary occurred in the 8800 block of Thomas Lea Terrace between Friday, June 29 at 2:30 p.m. and Monday, July 2 at 9 p.m. Entry to the home was not forced and property was taken.

A commercial burglary occurred at the Sunoco gas station, located at 12301 Darnestown Road, between Saturday, June 30 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 1 at 6:45 a.m. Entry to the gas station was forced and property was taken.

Six thefts from vehicles occurred during this reporting period. Loose items—including laptops, purses, wallets, etc.—were targeted:

A theft from a vehicle occurred at Framingham Drive and Turtle Dove Way between 10 p.m. on Monday, June 25 and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26. Entry to the vehicle was not forced. A purse and medication were taken.

A theft from a vehicle occurred at West Side Drive and Muddy Branch Road on Sunday, July 1 between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Entry to the vehicle was forced and an iPod was taken.
