Adam Joseph Gaudreau, 48, of Mount Airy, MD died from injuries suffered during the Wednesday morning crash.

A motorist was killed in a single-car crash south of Damascus on Wednesday. Police said his Hyundai Sonata drifted from the road, struck a large tree and then rolled over before coming to rest on a fence.

Adam Joseph Gaudreau, 48, of Mount Airy, MD was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died from his injuries, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

At around 8:30 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the crash on Laytonsville Road, near Hawkins Creamery Road, police said.

Gaudreau was traveling east on Laytonsville at the time of the crash. Police said it's unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Gaudreau was the only person in the car, according to police.
