UPDATE: Man Shot In Gaithersburg, Suspect In Custody

An adult male was shot in the 1000 block of West Side Drive in Gaithersburg Tuesday evening.

The victim in Tuesday evening's shooting in Gaithersburg is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital, Gaithersburg police officer Dan Lane said.

Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Justin Tirell Anderson, of Ashburn, VA. Anderson is charged with attempted second degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony, Lane said.

Anderson is currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center.

An adult male suffered multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday evening in Gaithersburg and was being treated at a local trauma facility, Gaithersburg police officer Dan Lane told Patch.

Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1000 block of West Side Drive in Gaithersburg at 5:04 p.m., Lane said.

Upon arrival, officers observed a man on the ground who had suffered gunshot wounds, Lane said.

Police are still looking for the weapon. Neighbors said they saw K9 units searching along the tree line of Interstate 270.

Lane confirmed a "person of interest" was in custody but no other information was available due to an ongoing investigation.

An adult male is being transported to a local hospital after being shot Tuesday evening in Gaithersburg, according to a tweet from Montgomery County police.

The man who was shot was on the 1000 block of West Side Drive and the suspect is in custody, police said.
