Photo of the Day: Travilah Fire Station Making Progress

Travilah Fire Station No. 32 will help alleviate pressure on surrounding Rockville and Gaithersburg stations to serve the North Potomac area.

The newest home for a group of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services officials is coming together, piece by piece.

Construction on Travilah Fire Station No. 32, located at the northwest corner of the Shady Grove Road and Darnestown Road intersections, is expected to be completed in late 2013, according to the county.

"The fire station will serve about 40,000 people within a 13-square-mile area that includes Traville, Fallsgrove, western Rockville, Travilah and North Potomac," according to the county.

Five surrounding Rockville and Gaithersburg stations have converged to cover the North Potomac area, and the completion of the new station will help fill a hole in that region, according to a report by The Gazette.

More information on the project can be viewed on the Montgomery County website.
