Police: Ex-Husband, New Wife Charged in Death of Woman Gunned Down on Street

Woman was gunned down Sunday morning on Crystal Rock Drive

Police have charged the ex-husband of a woman gunned down Sunday in Germantown with her death, Montgomery County Police said in a news release Monday

Baldeo Taneja, 62, of Nashville, Tenn., and his wife, Raminder Kaur, 63, were arrested Sunday on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. 

They were charged as fugitives in Nashville and are awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, police said.

Sunday morning police found Preeta Paul Gabba, 49, of the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive, in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.  Police said witnesses described seeing a female walking near the victim at the time of the shooting, but that person left the scene before police arrived.

Gabba later died at the hospital.

Police said they have evidence Taneja and Kaur were in Montgomery County on Oct. 11 and Oct. 12. The couple had purchased two guns in Nashville on Sept. 2, according to police.

Taneja was scheduled to be in court in Montgomery County on Oct. 10 for a domestic issue, but failed to appear for the hearing.
