The TD Bank in Gaithersburg was robbed twice Friday. Montgomery County Police said that as the first robber was leaving, a second male approached the teller with note demanding money.
“We believe that they were committing the robbery together,” said Officer Rebbecca Innocenti, a police spokeswoman.
At around 2:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a robbery at the bank, at 15830 Shady Grove Road. Police have since released surveillance footage, with hopes someone could identify the males.
Police linked the second robber to a PNC Bank robbery in Bethesda on Aug. 16.
“If you look at their surveillance photos, he's wearing similar clothing,” Innocenti said.
PNC Bank is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest for the Aug. 16 incident.
Police described the first robber as a black male, 5-feet, 9-inches to 6-feet tall, and between 35 and 45 years old. Police said the man was wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt and white baseball hat.
The second robber was described as a black male, 5-feet, 10-inches to 6-feet tall, and between 35 and 45 years old. Police said the man was wearing a long-sleeved red shirt, a black tie, dark-rimmed glasses, and a dark-colored fedora.
