Police Identify Gaithersburg Man Who Died Friday After Being Tasered

The 51-year-old allegedly jumped on cars, threw around large objects, and ignored police orders.

Montgomery County police identified 51-year-old Anthony Howard as the man who died after being tasered Friday evening by officers in Gaithersburg.

Howard, whose address was not known, was acting erratically Friday, according to police. A 911 caller told police Howard had been standing in a parked pickup truck "yelling profanities, striking the truck with rocks, and crawling on other vehicles."

Howard was tasered and restrained with handcuffs after a series of incidents, police said. After being restrained, police noticed that the subject wasn't breathing, authorities said.

Howard was later pronounced dead at Shady Grove Hospital.

Police are continuing to investigate Howard's death and ask that anyone who witnessed this event and has not spoken to police please call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
