Police: Ride-On Bus Driver ‘Inappropriately Touched’ Woman

Incident was reported near the Shady Grove Metro station.

A woman’s claim that a Ride-On bus driver inappropriately touched her has led to charges against an Olney man.

Rigoberto Adonay Galindo Lemus, 47, of Olney, was charged with assault and sex offenses, police said Wednesday.

The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 12 near the Shady Grove Metro station.

Police said a woman was walking on Somerville Drive at around 5 p.m. when she passed on out-of-service Ride-On bus. The driver invited her to come on the bus to stay warm.

Police claim that while they were on the bus talking, the driver “inappropriately touched her.” And then as she left the bus, according to police, the driver inappropriately touched her again.

Lemus was arrested Jan. 9 and was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and two count of committing fourth-degree sex-offense. He was released on his own recognizance on Jan. 9, according to police.

Esther Bowring, a spokeswoman for Montgomery County government, said Lemus had been a bus driver since 2001. Bowring said she could not comment on whether any disciplinary action had been taken, but said Lemus was no longer driving buses.
